Born in Cornwall, I grew up in the fishing port of Looe working on my father's boats and enjoying life by the sea. I had a love of art from an early age and started selling paintings in local galleries as a teenager. After graduating with a degree in graphic design from Exeter College of Art, I moved to London to start a career as a freelance illustrator. By the late eighties this career was well underway and I was able to move back to Cornwall continuing to produce illustrations for clients as far afield as Germany, America and Australia. In the last few years I have been spending more time producing my own paintings in a style influenced by ancient maps and "naive" painters such as Alfred Wallis and American folk artists. In my spare time I enjoy surfing at the various beaches near my home in St. Germans in South East Cornwall. |
